LARGE FAMILY GARDEN - ESSEX

This garden for a busy young family was lacking in colour and interest, suffering from an excess  over-mature evergreens. A careful approach of editing the old and introducing the new was the key...

 

It's a wonderfully sized quater-acre space but wasn't being well used so we designed a new layout, giving the unevenly proportioned plot a gentle structure with a circuitous gravel path and by creating different planting zones - sunny dining terrace, mini-meadow with fruit trees, woodland walk and productive kitchen garden.

Renovated in stages over three years, the family are now enjoying year-round colour and interest provided by floor-to-celling windows of their newly remodelled kitchen / living space.
